Scipero mondiale per il futuro

In thousands of events taking place from September 20th through 27th, millions of us will walk out of our classrooms, workplaces and homes to join together in the streets and demand climate action and climate justice. Currently 195 countries have registered strikes, which leaves only a few countries to still get involved in the #FridaysForFuture movement.

Once again strikes will be on all 7 continents! Each day cities register new strikes and as we hit the streets the numbers are still rocketing. We currently stand at 2966 registered cities whereas on the morning of March 15 we had 1800, only to subsequently discover that there had been an additional 500 cities that hadn’t been registered.

All events from September 20th through 27th will be counted as a single initiative and we are close to 6000 strike events.

There are countless signs that this round of #GlobalStrikeForFuture will be the largest in history,  far larger than the already staggering turnout on March 15 of 2.3 million demonstrators around the world.

We’re calling for massive participation on the part of adults, alongside young people. Together we will demand urgent and decisive action to face the climate crisis and to find a safe pathway to stay within 1.5 C increase in global temperature, in order to safeguard all that supports life on earth.

The week’s crescendo of events will bracket the UN Climate Action Summit taking place in New York on September 23rd.

FridaysForFuture: ActivismRiskZone

1. Fridaysforfuture want you to only strike in a way, that you feel safe with.

2. Many Fridaysforfuture strikers have a police approval for their strike.

3. It is common for these approvals to only allow a quiet, sitting protest.

4. ARZ: ActivismRiskZone is a working group aiming to support activism in risk zones. Use  #ARZ_helps if a minor Human Rights violation occurs and you would like to lift awareness

4. B. 5. We are a peaceful and quiet striking organisation, but unfortunately we have seen examples of individuals or organisations joining a strike for the purpose of causing trouble. Please take care and prioritise your own safety.

6. Fridaysforfuture recommends that all strikers at risk to use anonymous style emails if they would like to be contactable from the map, e.g. Questo indirizzo e-mail è protetto dallo spam bot. Abilita Javascript per vederlo.

- The Australian State Government of Victoria with 5million inhabitants has given the green light for their public service employees to strike. Stating that, “We want our kids to be engaged in the world around them, so we don’t think it’s fair to criticise students for holding a peaceful protest about an issue as important as this,” he said. “We should celebrate the fact they care enough to want to do something about it.”

- Amnesty International’s Secretary General, Kumi Naidoo, has written a personal plea to more than 30,000 schools around the world today urging them to allow children to take part in the unprecedented wave of global climate strikes planned for 20 and 27 September.
